Trashy Dystopian TV You Need to Watch

This long period of Netflix binges and baking has lead me down a weird rabbit hole of YA dystopian-ish tv shows and movies (most are based on books). And I need to get this out of my system or have someone else join me in this and I had my first brain wave in weeks. Weather this good or bad idea I can’t anymore but I do know this list is full of trashy teen drama that is so mind-numbingly addictive (for me anyway). None of these are particularly amazingly directed or cast or something I would recommend to anyone.

So here is my list of YA Dystopian-ish tv shows/Movies (all are available on Netflix or Disney+)

Shadow Hunters- the mortal instruments (4 seasons- 55 episodes)

I haven’t actually finished this one I’m on season 2 and half was through. The show is full of relationship drama that is played out well! It has vampires and werewolves and shadow hunters (as the name implies). It’s really easy to binge with lots of cliff-hangers and fun fight scenes. It’s based of a series of books by Cassandra Clare.

The Mortal Instruments – City of Bones

This is a movie based on the same book series by Cassandra Clare. Lily Collins and Robert Sheehan are both in it! It’s easy to watch but I do prefer the tv show to it.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians – The Lightning Thief

The Percy Jackson book series is one that I read with my brother and our friend, I loved these books so much! I loved the books so much that whatever the movie was going to be in was disappointed and noticed all the flaws. But now re-watching the movie I was less disappointed.

Teen Wolf

Great TV show! I never finished it but watched it for the first time when I was in first year of secondary school and though it was so brill. Now might be the time when I finally finish it.

Divergent series (Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant)

All are on Netflix! Divergent feels like Hunger Games in a parallel universe a lot happens. Zoë Kravitz the love of my life is in it which is an absolute plus.

Maze Runner (scorch trials is on Netflix)

The Maze Runners has an interesting plot and I enjoyed the concept of it. Thomas is a teenager who arrives in a meadow in the middle of a giant maze, there is a group of boys already living there. He has no memory of his life before he arrived. a girl then arrives to the meadow. Thomas becomes an integral part of the group and devises a plan to get out.
