Why you should join a Club or Society

Jack Neilan-O’Connor, Chair of Students Sports Council says; “College would be very boring without Clubs and Socs. You can get a degree anywhere, it’s the college experience you are here for!!! My favourite thing about clubs is the variety of people. In your course everyone will have similar ideas and approaches to things. Clubs and Socs give the opportunity to meet people with different views and opinions.”

Mark O’Donnell, President of Societies Forum says; “We have over 70 societies, from Japanamation to Harry Potter, Film, Dance, Islamic, DJ, LGBT, Engineering and everything in between. Not only do our societies offer top guest speakers, workshops, trips away, mad events, college balls and intervarsity competitions, but also the opportunity for personal development, learning new skills, making new friends, meeting people will similar interests/ideas and the space to grow your confidence while you’re enjoying events with like-minded people from your chosen society. And if you’ve an idea for a society that we don’t have, pop into our office in Aungier Street and we can help you set one up!”

There are so many ways to get involved in DIT and have a great college experience. You will make so many friends, learn new skills and enhance your employability by joining a Club, Society or being involved in the Students’ Union. If you somehow miss out on joining a Society or Club over those two weeks, just contact them for when their next event is on.
