If you are anything like me, the very thought of lectures and exams getting cancelled is nothing short of traumatising
But have no fear! With the social isolation taking place, there is plenty of time to spend watching educational videos online!!! Whether it’s educating yourself about the Coronavirus, the latest tech advances or just general knowledge, Youtube is an incredible resource for learning
While it can’t replace face to face teaching and learning, the sheer scope of knowledge available over the internet is nothing to be sneezed at. Here are my top 5 Youtube channels to arm yourself with information
1. TED
Opening with a big one, TED talks are a household name at this point. The topics are wide and presented in an engaging way by interesting and experienced people. There really is something for everyone on this channel

2. JerryRigEverything
Thinking of getting a new phone? Ever wondered about installing an elevator in your living room? Curious about the new transparent OLED fridges?!?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then JerryRigEverything is the channel for you! Run by Zach, the channel’s mainstay is smartphone durability videos. Basically Zach puts each new phone through a set of tests to see if they break, and then does a teardown video to see what features each phone has. However the channel has grown a lot and now there are a lot more new technologies and gizmos featured, not just smartphones

3. Daily Dose Of Internet
I have a personal hatred of clickbait, so channels like the Daily Dose Of Internet are a breath of fresh air! Every single video is named after the first clip shown, so you always get exactly what it says on the tin. This channel is great for general knowledge and quirky little tidbits of information that you might not otherwise come across
4. Chubbyemu
A medical doctor turned youtuber who addresses all sorts of morbid but whacky cases! ChubbyEmu is great because he explains medical terms in plain english and clearly why the patient is experiencing their symptoms down to the chemical level

Things That Do Not Cure COVID-19 If Ingested
5. 3Blue1Brown
This channel is all about maths. Specifically complex concepts explained in a very visually appealing way. Even if you hate maths, I highly recommend giving this channel a go, as it explains topics in a very digestible way. The linked video on exponential growth of epidemics is a great way to rationalise the current outbreak using mathematical analysis

So there you have it, my top picks of educational channels. Of course there are hundreds if not thousands of amazing channels out there that cover way more topics than I touched on, so keep an eye on your recommended tab during the time outside the lecture hall!
