Christmas is the most beautiful time of the year, families and friends come together, exchanging gifts, sharing meals as some believe this season is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ while others just love the colours, beauty and happiness that come with Christmas.
Recycle!
Over the centuries people have believed that the colours that come with Christmas is what makes Christmas what it truly is. Red and green being the prominent colour of Christmas along with gold, white and whatever colour you choose to go with your Christmas. But this time around let’s “Go Green!!!” this Christmas. By going green, I mean adopting an environmental friendly Christmas by Reducing, Reusing and Recycling. Here are some of the reasons to “Go Green” this Christmas
Save Energy
Manufacturing of consumer goods, refining and mining of minerals and natural resources and other certain products requires the use of energy. Reusing household items instead of buying new items limits the amount of new resources required and saves energy.
Reduce Pollution
Trashing out industrial waste such as plastics and cans results in the contamination and pollution of water, air and soil which is hazardous to our health. Recycling helps reduce waste as waste has huge negative impact on the natural environment.
Climate Change
Green house emissions such as carbon dioxide are one of the major causes of global warming. Reduced burning of recyclable materials would help reduce toxic emissions that contribute to global warming.
Protect Wildlife & Conserve the Environment
Reusing and recycling paper products helps reduce deforestation or felling as papers are made from certain trees. In this way, forests and the habitat of certain wild animals can be preserved.
So while stuffing the turkey down your throat this Christmas, don’t forget to save the planet by “Going Green”.
