Nominations are now open for by-elections to elect two positions on the Executive: Kevin Street College Officer and Postgraduate Officer. The nomination period is open until 3rd October at 5pm. Voting will take place in the SU offices on 10th and 11th October between 9am and 7pm. The count will take place in Bolton St on 12th October.
Kevin Street College Officer
This is a part-time paid position of the Students’ Union to represent the students of the Kevin St campus. The candidate would have to be a registered DIT student studying in Kevin St and available to work at least 10 hours a week. The role involves electing the Class Reps on the campus, chairing the monthly Class Rep meetings and maintaining the local democracy of Class Reps, Student Councillors and School Reps.
The officer would be the point of contact for the Union on campus and run campaigns and events with the assistance of the Full Time Officers and local crews. They are an employee of DITSU CLG and accountable to Student Council as an elected officer.
The officer will receive training, uniform and have a hot desk in the Students’ Union Office in the Snackery where the Student Advisor is based. The nomination form can be found here.
Postgraduate Officer
This is also a part-time paid position of the Students’ Union to represent all postgraduate taught and research students. The candidate must be a registered postgraduate student of DIT on a level 9 or 10 course and also available to work at least 10 hours a week. The role involves assisting College Officers on their campus with electing postgraduate Class Reps, maintaining contact with them and all postgraduate students in order that the Union best represent them. The officer also sits on several committees within DIT such as Academic Council, Graduate Research School Board, Academic Quality Assurance Committee (AQAC) and Library Committee.
They are an employee of DITSU CLG and accountable to Student Council. They may also run events and campaigns for postgraduate students with the assistance of the Full Time Officers and local crews.
The officer will receive training, uniform and can use any of the hot desks in the Students’ Union offices on the campus. The nomination form can be found here.
The above positions are great opportunities to get more involved in the Students’ Union and be directly involved in shaping how the Union best serves and represents the student body.
