The ‘Top Rep’ Awards is an annual event in partnership with DIT and DITSU that recognizes the excellent work done by many of our Class Reps, who regularly go above and beyond for their class, and are committed, enthusiastic and, most importantly, effective in the role.

This year, there were many excellent Class Reps nominated by their peers and it’s great to hear the praise that students have for those who volunteer to represent them. This makes us realize how important it is to have someone in your class who can communicate, negotiate and resolve issues on your behalf. Below are those who we’re nominated but we know there are many other unsung heroes that are not mentioned and DITSU would like to thank them for all their hard work!

The Award recognises the Top Reps from each of the four colleges in DIT. They are rewarded at the DITSU Recognition Ceremony and this took place on 3rd May in the Radisson Blu Hotel! It was very difficult to pick them out but the following are 2018 Top Rep Award Winners:

Bartek Janczack – College of Arts & Tourism

‘He performed brilliantly as a mediator between students and college staff, showing great patience and empathy for all involved’

Elaine Coffey – College of Business

‘One clear voice after consultation with the class on various issues and requests for opinions which ensured it wasn’t just one person’s opinion being expressed’

Chris Simons – College of Engineering & Built Environment (pictured with Pierre, VP Education)

‘He was Class Rep last year and he communicated some issues with lecturers last year and we have seen a fantastic improvement in those lecturers this year’

Katie Fitzgerald – College of Sciences & Health (pictured with Pierre, VP Education)

‘Ensured all students felt supported and welcomed by offering to chat/have a coffee and made students aware of events/services that were available throughout the year.

On behalf of DITSU and DIT, congratulations and thank you for going above and beyond the call of duty as Class Rep. We look forward to greater engagement with Class Reps next year as we work to create the best student experience for everyone in DIT. Keep an eye out in September because you can be a Class Rep and could then be nominated for this award!
